Description

A spectacular circular flush-mounted light suitable for use on ceiling and walls.

Modern Wall Light sconce decoration oriental lamp Brass Wall Light Moroccan Wall lamp

When unlit, the painstakingly hand-sawn and hand-engraved detailing on our Aziza wall light is so beautiful that it could pass as a work of art rather than a light fitting. But when illuminated from behind, its antique brass surface is transformed into something utterly extraordinary. Not only does the staggeringly dense detailing of the motif become revealed in all of its silhouetted glory, precise perforations around the rim of the circle project a panoramic fan of light beams radiating across the wall.
The result is a display so enchanting that it is hard to take your eyes off it.

Manufacturing Method

A video showing how one of our most popular lamps is hand produced from scratch all the way through to the final product.

The master artisan begins by placing a paper pattern of a complex drawing onto a brass sheet. Then, the craftsman carefully cuts the openings into the brass following the curves of the pattern on paper. The brass is cut, sculpted and engraved with extreme finesse.

Utilizing a fretsaw tool, called a “serrouj” in Morocco, enables the craftsman to achieve a high level of craftsmanship not otherwise found in standard Moroccan productions.

The beauty of our Moroccan lamps is enhanced by the time old tradition of engraving over the brass metal by hand. edken is proud to uphold the tradition of brassware craftsmanship in our designs.
